Welcome one and all to the solo of Shomrita Mandal, presented by Shubham, a School of Performing Arts. Shomrita has been learning Odissi under the mentoring of Smt. Barnalee Sarkar. She shall be presenting the entire repertoire of Odissi. The first piece of the Odissi repertoire, Mangalacharan, an item of invocation has been composed and choreographed to ‘Neela Lohita’, a popular kannada composition by Jagannatha Das, invoking Lord Shiva. Batu, Pallavi in raag Hamsadhwani, two expressional pieces, and the concluding item Moksha are all chorepgraphies of the late Guru, Padmavibhushan Shri Kelucharan Mohapatra. The music team comprises of young and very dynamic musicians like Shri Ganesh Desai and Shri Ranitendranath Tagore on vocals, and Shri Niranjan Hegde on the flute. Shri Soubhagyanarayan Chhotaray on the Mardala and Shri Pradeep Maharana on the violin are artists from Odisha joining the musical ensemble. The event shall begin from 6pm at the KH Kalasoudha, Hanumanthnagar on the 10th of December 2022.
